Megan Jones began her musical journey at the age of six in Deep River, Ontario, a small town that nonetheless provided a wealth of inspiration in the classical music world. She started her violin studies with Caryl Clark and later with Peter Morris. At 17, Megan began traveling to Ottawa for weekly lessons with Calvin Sieb, further refining her craft.
Megan's passion for orchestral playing was ignited during her first year at the Deep River Music Camp, and by the age of nine, Megan knew she was destined to become an orchestral musician. She went on to perform with several regional ensembles, including the Deep River Symphony Orchestra, the Pembroke Symphony, and the Ottawa Youth Orchestra.
In 2000, Megan earned a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from McGill University, studying under renowned violinists Richard Roberts and Yehonathan Berick. During her time at McGill Megan also studied voice privately in a variety of genres including opera and jazz.
Megan held the position of concertmaster of the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra from 2006 to 2011 and, until 2024, was the concertmaster of Sinfonia Ancaster. She has also performed regularly with prestigious ensembles such as the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, London Symphonia, Arcady Ensemble, and the Jeans 'n Classics Rock Symphony.
In 2002, Megan began working closely with Maestro Boris Brott at the National Academy Orchestra of Canada, where she not only performed as a violinist but also served as the orchestra's manager for over two decades, leaving the position in 2023.
As a soloist, Megan has performed with the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra, the Deep River Symphony Orchestra, and Arcady Ensemble. She has also appeared multiple times as a vocal soloist with the National Academy Orchestra.
In 2024, Megan was appointed concertmaster of the North Bay Symphony Orchestra and relocated back to her hometown of Deep River, where she is enjoying the opportunity to reconnect with her musical roots.
